Meet Miss Mimic : When Your Overconfident Colleague Tries to Be You

Ever had that colleague who not only thinks they're the office genius but also seems to be auditioning for your role?

Meet Miss Mimic

Imagine this: J from marketing starts wearing the same outfits as you, uses your catchphrases, and even tries to replicate your LinkedIn profile. It's like she's your biggest fan... or your shadow.

Why Does This Happen? I cannot tahan so I googled around why she behave so?

According to the Herald-Tribune, this behavior can stem from a lack of social skills or a desire to fit in. Herald Tribune

How to Handle the Situation? If someone in your office copycat-ing you?

Set Boundaries: Politely but firmly let J know you're flattered but prefer to keep your personal style and professional identity unique.

Encourage Individuality: Suggest she explore her own strengths and interests. Maybe she has a hidden talent for stand-up comedy or knitting?

Lead by Example: Continue being your authentic self. As Mac & Ernie suggests, focusing on your own growth can set a positive example.

Dealing with a colleague who mirrors your every move can be amusing and a tad annoying. By setting clear boundaries and encouraging individuality, you can maintain your unique flair while fostering a positive work environment.

In my case, J's behavior became unsettling; therefore, I chose to transfer her to another department and reported her notable achievements to HR, all to facilitate her departure.
